On Thursday 5, authorities and journalists will gather at Belaba to see how the fabrication of charcoal briquettes takes place. ENVODEV is glad to see awareness being raised in Moundou, and to see the members of APRO-ECO push forward in this pioneering endeavor. More news to come from Moundou!
This week is an important one for Belaba. The group ENVODEV trained (APRO-ECO) in October has been producing charcoal and has caught the attention of local radio stations as well as the Chadian National Television Network. Paulin Ramadji, ENVODEV´s logistics and technical assistant, had the opportunity to explain the composting and charcoal projects underway in Belaba. For the past couple of weeks, news of alternative charcoal has been riding the radio waves in Moundou; producing much interest from the authorities who are confronted with having to find solutions to the deforestation issue in Chad. People have also been hearing about the compost project ENVODEV and APRO-ECO have been working on. Both project are answers to some fundamental issues Chadians face on a daily basis - finding fuel to cook with, and dealing with poor sanitation and water-borne diseases.
